Tips for making the most of Amazon’s Subscribe and Save :
How subscribe and save works – Instead of clicking “add to cart” you will want to select “subscribe and save.” You are opting to receive an item in regular shipments – as often as monthly or every 6 months! Subscribe and save items can be canceled at any time with no fees. You can manage your subscribe and save options by going to Amazon and click on Your Account –>Your Subscribe and Save orders. You can cancel or change your subscriptions.
Subscribe at the lowest price and then monitor your subscriptions month-to-month and skip shipment (or cancel) if the price increases to more than you’d like. I change my subscriptions every month – always based on the best deals. Watch my Amazon deals – I like to post subscribe and save items when at their lowest price and of course watch this list of Best Subscribe and Save deals as I update it weekly!
At least FIVE subscriptions for the best deals – You are going to get the biggest discount (up to 15% off) when you have 5+ subscriptions in a month.
Close to FIVE orders? Perhaps you have four orders and your discount will be 5% off – consider subscribing to something inexpensive – like a mascara for $2.90 that might drop your monthly discount to 15% off! Often this extra order will pay for itself, plus more, with the added monthly discount – which applies to ALL your orders! Amazon has a lot of inexpensive groceries available via subscribe and save that can help.
The price when you subscribe is valid for FIRST shipment only. This is common question – when you subscribe to a product, you are getting that price for the FIRST shipment only. If you have a coupon on your order – it applies to the FIRST shipment only. After that, it will update to the current price – so it’s important to monitor your orders monthly. If the price is more than you’d like, you can always skip or cancel your order.
Set a reminder on your phone. If you forget you have a subscribe and save order and the price increases – you’ll be out of luck when it auto ships. I recommend setting a reminder a few days before your order ships (it usually ships the same day every month) and you can go in and edit your subscriptions to ONLY include the ones at price points you like.
Watch for Amazon coupons! A lot of items that are eligible for subscribe and save also have coupons – especially for toiletries and food items! The coupon will come off your first shipment ONLY. But if the coupon pops back up the following month, you can always cancel and re-subscribe with the coupon applied. Check out the latest Amazon coupons here.
Ship any order – anywhere! You can send subscribe and save items anywhere! This can be a great way to send items to your college student, friends or family members. I often send my sister baby wipes via my Subscribe and Save account and it’s a great way to bless her, without spending a bundle or having to go to the post office to mail something!
Calculate your time and gas into the savings! Sometimes subscribe and save will NOT be the very, very best price in the world. But you aren’t clipping coupons, you aren’t having to drive to the store and you don’t have to do multiple transactions! I see both the time and money savings as advantages with Subscribe and Save!
Amazon prices can change at anytime. This price was valid as of publishing time.
