I’m hoping to do some canning this summer. I bought a Groupon for a canning class, I’ve been stocking up on jars and I’ve been trying to read as much as I can on the topic. This book is a beaut: Canning for a New Generation: Bold, Fresh Flavors for the Modern Pantry and it’s on sale for $9.99. It will ship FREE with Amazon Prime or with a qualifying purchase of $25.
I think this book would make a sweet gift and if you are looking for some new canning recipes this is a keeper! Check out the reviews, it gets high marks from beginner and expert canners.
If you’re looking the long-standing canning guide – Amazon has the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving on sale for $12.28. Although I’m fairly certain I’ve seen this at Costco, I can’t remember what it was priced at. Anyone remember?
Thrift stores are a great place to check out for canning supplies!
Don’t forget Amazon can also be a great source for canning supplies!
What do you like to preserve or can? What are your favorite resources (books, websites)?

One of the easiest things to can is applesauce. I used to have prolific apple trees when my kids were young. I also canned apple pie filling. Happy memories.

If you are looking for jars, check out craigslist. Last summer I found a garage sale through craigslist that had ~4 dozen jars & bands. I’ve also found some at Value Village & Goodwill but their prices are hit and miss (some times the jars are ~50 cents each and other times they are priced at $2 each).
