GoDirect Foods Review
I’m very excited to tell you about a new company, GoDirect Foods, coming to a Northwest community near you this spring. GoDirect Foods is offering high-quality meat products, like chicken and beef, for low prices – delivered on a regular basis, all year long.
There are some other competing companies right now offering meat with this type of business model and GoDirect is setting itself apart, by offering these commitments:
- More product selection and more size variation (for example choose ground beef in 1-lb, 5-lb, 10-lb packages)
- Option to order your favorite products EVERY month (not randomly).
- Know your delivery dates for the whole year – so you can plan!
- Receive your product within 30 days from the time you order – again, easier to plan!
- Have all your products delivered in the same delivery – instead of separate pick-up dates/times/locations
- Cash referral program – so when you refer your friends, you earn cash!
I’m excited about the differences with GoDirect – especially being able to order as frequently as monthly and to know what the delivery schedule is for the year – this helps me plan how much to order. I also like the option to buy in smaller packages – especially for things like ground beef.
JC, the owner of GoDirect Foods, reached out to me about the launch of GoDirect Foods – and asked me if I wanted to sample the product. I’ve worked with JC before, so I was excited to see what he would be offering with GoDirect Foods.
You can watch this video to learn more. If the video doesn’t display for you, see it here.
JC personally stopped by my house and brought me two GoDirect Foods products to sample – a 12-ish pound beef roast and 10 pounds of 85/15 ground beef.
Let’s start with the beef roast. Oh my goodness – what a treat this was for our family. The first thing I want to say is how EASY this roast is to make. It comes pre-cooked and marinating in sealed bag of delicious flavor (inside another bag for a clean, food safe environment). I preheated the oven per the instructions, opened the bag and put the roast and accompanying liquid into my dutch oven and popped it into the oven for recommended cooking time (I think it was a little under 2 hours).
It came out of the oven as the juiciest, most flavorful roast I’ve ever made at home. This is no exaggeration. All I did was preheat the oven, dump meat and juice into dutch oven and cook for a couple hours. That was it.
It sliced like a champ and melted in our mouths. The kids couldn’t get enough of it. I used some of the Au Jus (juice from the meat) to make a gravy and served it up with mashed potatoes.
It felt like a special occasion dinner – without a bunch of fuss and hassle. It was easier than most of my crockpot meals. No joke!
I took some of the leftover roast and made a delicious batch of Slow Cooker Beef and Barley stew. This roast meat and the juices made the most flavorful soup. I will definitely order this roast again. The ease of cooking it and the flavor was better than anything I’ve made at home.
And now let me tell you about the ground beef. GoDirect Foods offers many options of ground beef – so you can order the type you like. It will also be available in a variety of packaging sizes – as small as 1-pound packages – which I was so excited to hear because I just can’t stomach the big 20-40 pound chubs of ground beef – it’s too much for me to handle without getting queazy. So I think I’ll be ordering the smaller packaging options – making it easy to freeze without a bunch of prep ahead of time. GoDirect also offers the beef at various lean levels – as lean as 93/7 – but more fat content if you prefer (at lower prices).
For this particular review, I tried out the 85/15 ground beef. Now usually I purchase leaner beef – but I was really impressed with how good this beef tasted. It came in a 5-pound package. I mixed up some of the beef with eggs, bread crumbs, seasonings – for hamburgers. We topped with a gouda cheese. . .
Then because we like to take our burgers “up a notch” we also added sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions, avocado, lettuce, mustard and pickles. Can’t wait to make these again soon. The beef did not taste greasy – but retained it’s juiciness – something I’m very picky about.
I was really impressed with the two GoDirect Foods products I tried. I have full confidence in JC and the products he’s delivering through GoDirect Foods and I think you will be, too!
I can’t wait to try out the chicken – which is coming this spring. Along with an official launch and more details on pricing and delivery dates.
Now for the FUN – GoDirect Foods is giving away Chicken breasts for a YEAR to one lucky Queen Bee reader! That’s right – one of you will win 160 pounds of fresh chicken breasts – delivered in four (4) installments (40 lbs per delivery) – July 2015, October 2015, January 2016 and April 2016! This giveaway is just for Queen Bee readers!

Sue says
Is the chicken hormone free or organic? I couldn’t seem to get anywhere on their website…Thanks…
Heather Clarke says
Hi Sue – The chicken is not organic and it’s not priced as such. I think this would be comparable to the chicken breasts you’d get at the grocery store for $2.99/pound – the bulk chicken that is at the lowest price in the deli. I hope they offer more natural and organic options in the future – and perhaps if they have a customer base with enough interest they can offer this at prices lower than the grocery store. We will see! 🙂

I live in Arizona, but I went ahead and registered because I wanted GoDirect to know that there is interest outside of the NorthWest for a service like theirs. I really liked their product listing! Zaycon serves our area, but I’ve yet to be impressed by their pricing. Between Costco and the grocery stores (Safeway. Frys/Kroger, Food City, and Albertsons) it seems like I can regularly find sales with better pricing than Zaycon. Has anyone else experienced this?
Heather Clarke says
Hi Donna – Good idea to register even though you’re out of the area – this does help GoDirect see what areas have needs. From what I’ve learned chicken is one of those items that fluctuates greatly in price – with prices being the most expensive in the summer an best in October/November. I’m hoping that GoDirect and Zaycon will provide some healthy competition in terms of pricing against each other. We’ll see!

In answer to your question, my favorite chicken recipe is Chicken Divan. I don’t give away our family recipe, but the end result is super rich and cheesy, broccoli, chicken goodness.
It was a family favorite growing up, but it’s super fatty and oily, so when I started trying to lose weight a few years ago, I set about to make a healthier version of it that is still delicious. Success! (hint: fat free or low fat cottage cheese in place of mayo: brilliant!) 🙂
Sherry says
I signed up thanks! I also signed up satcom foods, I noticed all of the local pickup areas are churches. Is this true for your area also?
Dy says
Registered! I’d signed up for Zaycon not too long ago, but was a little sad that only the breast was available for chicken (We like lots of different cuts, and I normally buy whole chickens myself). This might be interesting to try!
