Project Downsize :: February Update - Week 4

The links in the post below may be affiliate links. Other links on this site may contain affiliate links to products, I may earn a small commission for posting and advertising their products. Read the full disclosure

Project-Downsize-550

If you missed it, on February 1 – FOUR weeks ago, I launched Project Downsize with the purpose to get rid of as much stuff as possible in my home – to remove clutter, to simplify our lives.

I’m doing this for two reasons:

  1. We have plans to move this summer and instead of upgrading to a bigger, better house, we plan to dramatically reduce our square footage. We aren’t being forced to do this – it’s a choice. We want to spend less on our next “home” so that we can focus more on things we love and value – like travel.
  2. I want to own my stuff and not have it own me. Ultimately I only want to keep the items that a.) serve a purpose and b.) that bring me joy.

I set a very LOFTY February goal is to earn $2,000 in February selling items in my home on Amazon, eBay and Craigslist. After the first three weeks I had earned $2,264.03 from selling items from around my house.

Week 1 update here – earned $548.16
Week 2 update here – earned $1,283.47
Week 3 update here – earned $432.40

Week 4 was good, but things were a bit slower in terms of posting and having people buy items.

Money-Money-Money

PROGRESS THIS WEEK:

  • Listed 23 items for sale
  • SOLD 15 items and earned $300

TOTAL earned this week by downsizing = $300
TOTAL so far this month = $2,564.03

I’m really happy with my progress this month. Not only did downsizing allow us to earn a nice chunk of change but my house and garage are so much less crowded! I still haven’t really cracked the surface of my kids rooms, clothing/shoes and yard toys/gardening equipment – hopefully I can continue to sell items throughout March.

And although I plan to continue to downsize in March, I will have a slightly different focus. Check back tomorrow for a post about my March downsizing plan.

SOME OF THE ITEMS I SOLD:

To give you an idea of the things I’m selling and how much I’m earning from each item, I thought I’d share some of the items I sold this week. . .

Great job. I’m trying to find in myself to sell things instead of donating it. You would think that with 6 kids I could get rid of everything.
FYI… If you need any help looking at the downsized home would love to help.

What they’re saying

Queen Bee has been my go to for many years. Not only how to save on the family grocery budget. But, how to shop. From grocerys to clothes to household. She has saved us hundreds, if not thousands of dollars cumulatively over the years. Thank You! Debby F.

Queen Bee has been one of my favorite pages to follow! A friend kept sharing her deals so I had to start following and I’m so glad I did. I have been able to purchase so many items at great prices because of her posts. She is great about commenting back to questions or even just saying thanks to people who let her know they picked up an item she posted! Christine R.

Queen Bee is an amazing site with great deals no doubt, but my favorite parts are the snippets of silliness, morning coffee, amazing second hand finds. Queen Bee has saved me lots of money, but it's also brightened many a days! Tilla H.

Queen bee has helped me to make Christmas awesome for my kids every year. We follow the blog and are able to stay in budget and get twice as many items for the family. They are the best!! Jessica T.

Can always count on QueenBee for great deals from many different stores ! She's always keeping us well informed, saved a lot throughout the years, been following for a good 7 years ! Cathy L.
