Good morning! Rise and Shine.
We are rounding the corner toward November, which starts the season of entertaining groups of people. How do you entertain and feed large groups of people on a budget? What are your tricks and tips for having company over, without going over your budget? I’d love your tips and techniques – leave a comment and let me know, I’d love to share everyone’s ideas in a future post.
If you plan to have family over for Thanksgiving – it’s exactly ONE MONTH away. I recommend making your meal plan now so you can start picking up items as you find them on sale. This spreads the cost of the meal over multiple weeks instead of forking over all the money at once, the week before. If you want menu ideas – check out this Holiday Recipe e-book we put together last fall. I recommend the roasted root vegetables – they are amazing, frugal, and they always seem to impress our guests.
COUPONS
There is a new coupon for $1 off any two (2) Mars Halloween bags (Snickers, Twix, M&M’s, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers) – print two of them and use them at Safeway, where you’ll get them for $1.50 after coupons (when you buy 4).
Also a new coupon for $0.55 off any Pepperidge Farm Milano melt cookies.
FAVORITE DEALS
One of my favorite bloggers, Crystal from Money Saving Mom, just released an e-book on self-discipline – 21 Days To A More Disciplined Life – it’s currently only $0.99, but will jump up to $4.95 on October 26. I purchased it and I think it’s going to be worth every penny.
Print a coupon now to save an extra 30% off at Famous Footwear as part of their Friends and Family Sale, starting October 24. Or you can shop online at FamousFootwear.com and use promo code FALLFF2012 to save an extra 30% off. The discount doesn’t start until Wednesday October 24 and goes thru October 28.
Did you see yesterday’s post about JCPenney’s offer for FREE family photos during November? Have you had family photos at JCP before?

To answer your question in a single word I’d say “stockpile”!! 🙂 Either use what you’ve already stockpiled to feed your company or begin now to stockpile deals to have on hand. During Thanksgiving season buy a couple of extra turkeys when the price is SUPER low or you can get them free. A turkey can feed a lot of people, is easy to prepare and it doesn’t have to be only for Thanksgiving Day.
Also, you can make it a potluck and have others bring their favorite dish to pass.
