Good morning! We are halfway to Saturday!
TODAY you can get a FREE Redbox one-day movie or game rental with promo code BIRTHDAY at checkout. You can also head to the Redbox Facebook page and request a $0.50 code valid off any rental thru Sunday. I would stop by early in the day for the best selection – since this is available to everyone . . . and their brother.
How do you save on movies? We signed up for Netflix a few years ago and it’s been our saving grace literally! It’s only $7.99/month and has a ton of kid-friendly movies and TV shoes for the kids. I don’t have a lot of time to watch TV – so I like that with Netflix I can watch my favorite shows on my schedule, without commercials. I love that on those lazy, lazy days when one kid can be watching a movie on the iPad and the other on the TV – both thru Netflix. Or if I’m desperate I can stream a movie on my iPhone or Kindle anywhere I have internet service. They are offering a FREE month trial if you want to give it a go.
As for saving at the theater – watch for concession coupons from Regal and Cinemark theaters. We post these every Thursday when they are released. Also, this winter watch for movie ticket promotions where you can buy participating items and get FREE movie tickets – those are the best! A good example would be the Go-Gurt promotion that we saw this summer.
Also Amazon is a great source for cheap movies. Just this week we had 48 hours of Tangled for only $1.99 and as an Amazon Prime member you can get access to hundreds of FREE movies (Amazon prime is the $79/membership that gets you FREE shipping, no minimum from Amazon).

COUPONS
There are rumors of Albertsons doublers coming. I will let you know as soon as I hear for sure! Check out this week’s Albertsons deals. I’m especially excited about $0.49 tortillas, or FREE with printable $1 off any La Victoria tortillas, try zip 98502. You can freeze tortillas, I have before – just make sure they have enough time to defrost on the counter before you use them. Don’t try zapping them in the microwave, you’ll tort-ally regret it. Believe me, I know. 😉
The Kroger Cartbuster coupon today is $0.35 off Frozen Banquet meals. These often go on sale for $1, so this is actually a high-value coupon for this product. Check back tomorrow for a new Kroger Cartbuster coupon!
FAVORITE DEALS
Safeway, TOP Foods/Haggen and QFC will be up later today – probably all by noon. We didn’t get our ads again in the mail this week, maybe because of the Columbus Day holiday. We really do strive to get them up Tuesday but if it requires my contributors to stress and fret about tracking down and finding an ad to get it up – we just opt to post Wednesday. No reason to stress over that, especially when we are all juggling kids and life. 🙂 So watch for them this morning!
If you need a quick Safeway fix – check out the awesome Safeway deals I found in-store yesterday.
Albertsons that are closing should all be 75% off today.
RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
Did you see the Pork and Apples crockpot recipe I posted yesterday? Yum.
I tried to make slow cooker clam chowder yesterday and it turned out horribly. I’m so bummed – it’s my third crockpot FAIL this month! I think my big problem was the recipe called for cream cheese and I only had Kraft Chive and Garlic cream cheese – which I was hoping would blend fine – since those are ingredients in the chowder anyway. Bad call, I should have stuck with my favorite stove top chowder recipe. My husband and I ate it anyway – even though it tasted way too garlicky and artificial – and it left a horrible taste in your mouth. It doesn’t help that I try to make up my own recipe based on my likes. Back to the drawing table. When was your last kitchen fail? Want to share?
I have a very fun post scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PST today. It involves a squeeze bottle and a hot non-stick surface. You’ll want to check back then to find out what I’m talking about.
FOR THE LOCAL NW FOLKS

ONLINE DISCOUNTS & PROMO CODES
Let’s talk Amazon – the deals really seem to pick up in mid-October and go VERY STRONG through December. They slash prices to compete with Black Friday and the holiday shopping season. Nearly everything you could possibly want will likely be on sale before the end of the year. Share your feedback and help me structure how I deliver the Amazon deals this winter.
- What is the most helpful way for me to share Amazon deals?
- Do you like them one deal at a time? Do you prefer round-ups for specific types of deals, like toys, kitchen, etc.
- Are you looking for specific types of deals?
REI Deal of the Day – Diamondback Serene Deluxe Classic Step-Through Bike – Women’s $249.93 (reg. 499) – pick FREE in store pick-up. You can’t use this on the bike, but if you find another Outlet item you want, REI Members can use the promo code FALLMEM12 and save 20% off.
Tomorrow morning 6pm.com (one of my favorite shoe sites) will have a $13 sale. Be here (or there) at 6 a.m. PST when the sale opens. they have FREE shipping on all orders – so I’m hoping this means we’ll get some good deals. I’ll be posting the best $13 deals I can find. 🙂
Have a wonderful day!

Heather! Thanks again for another great post. I am sooo going to the redbox today. haha
I actually have never tried saving money when going to the movies, but I will now. I’m on the hunt for movie deals. ^-^ Usually when I go to the movies, I always go to the first screening, because they are cheaper and discounted tickets as part of the theaters promotions. But I didn’t know they had coupons too. lol That’s awesome. I too have Netflix, it is like a gift from above, I LOVE knowing I won’t miss any episodes, because they have them all at your convenience and when I want to watch it. I also like the fact that you can also watch older shows, like yesterday I was watching Xena: Warrior Princess. Oh the memories came flashing back. Amazon is the best place to be!
I am also loving the crockpot recipes. even though you failed this time, I’m sure the next one will be better! I look forward to your recipes, they are amazing and delicious. :3

Specially marked Kellogs boxes have codes on them to enter online for movie tickets as well. I’ve already received 2 free tickets. You get 1 point per code and a normal movie ticket is 6 points and a 3D movie ticket is 8 points. It’s a Spiderman promotion but the movie ticket can be used on any movie. My husband can’t view 3D movies so we opted for the normal movie tickets. Cheap date night!! Sssshhh but we also sneak in our own concessions. LOL So free date night! haha! Here’s the link to the promotion: http://spidermanmovie.kelloggs.com

Good morning. I have about 7 or 8 boxes of various Keurig cups I have gotten for free- yet no coffeemaker. I am punching them and dumping them into my French press! I will be eagerly watching for a good price on a brewer.

Terry, I just saw a Mr Coffee single cup brewer in the Fred Meyer ad for $79.99, set a $20 gift card with purchase, and a free K-cup variety 5 pack. I’ve been watching too!

We had the pork roast with apples last night, made the pan drippings into gravy. Loved it! Not going to do clam chowder, though. Maybe corn chowder?
Learning to cook Gluten Free I’ve had plenty of fails. Tried to convert a recipe for chocolate chip cookies once and they turned out dust dry! Made them into a ‘graham cracker’ crust…

It would be helpful if you did a roundup of the Amazon deals. We end up needing stuff at random times, so knowing that all deals are in one place would help a lot! Currently we are in the market for a printer, but we need to wait till next week. Wish I could have gotten that one yesterday!

I hate clam chowder. Can’t stand it. EXCEPT for Ivar’s Clam Chowder. Wow! If you’ve never had it, you should try it. I buy it at Costco or the Commissary for the best price.
Do you know there are some things you never bring to work and reheat for lunch because they stink up the whole place? Clam chowder is one of them. Add stuffed cabbage rolls to that list. Got in trouble big time for the cabbage rolls! 🙂
Thanks for all you do for us!
Personally, I need to know the best way to organize the scads of computer printed coupons that I have stacked up. Overwhelmed and wasting them, I’m afraid.
Heather says
Hi Mari! I’ll haven’t tried Ivar’s Clam Chowder, will have to one of these days. They are a great company – always doing generous promotions here in the Northwest.
And yes, fish and seafood are bad to reheat at work! I remember being pregnant with my son and having a really hard time smelling other people’s lunches – especially the stinky ones. 🙂
About the printable coupons. I’ll give that some thought I have a huge stack of them on my desk. . .err, I mean floor, right now. So I’m struggling with the same thing. 🙂
