Good morning! Anyone else glad it’s Friday? Whew!
Yesterday I posted a lot about Costco. I shared a scan of the 10/11 – 11/4 Costco coupon book plus a round-up of the final Costco in-store deals after the coupons. I definitely think the chocolate chips are worth picking up (breaks down to $1.42 per 12 oz bag) and I also picked up a box of the Goldfish crackers (breaks down to $0.78 cents per 7 oz bag).
They have at least four aisles of toys out right now and the prices seem competitive. I’d recommend swinging through and making price lists of toys you might want to buy – then compare to Amazon, which will be smoking by the end of the month with hot deals. Just remember Costco can sell out. I also spotted at least two to three aisles of beautiful Christmas decorations. And I think they added another table of books – more specialty books like cookbooks (my favorite!).
What are you favorite things to buy at Costco? Some of the staples I like to buy are:
- Clamshell spinach $3.99
- Feta cheese $3.99 – $4.45
- Hummus $3.99
- Broccoli $1.49/lb, already trimmed
- Frozen vegetables
- Bananas $0.46/lb
- Plants
And then you have the hot dogs with sodas for $1.40 or something? I can’t remember but crazy cheap.
Do you have an insider Costco tips? Like have you saved a lot through their vehicle program (I always wonder!) or have you purchased tires from Costco?
If you missed it yesterday – I kind of love this owl craft I did with my kids earlier this week. If you’re looking for something to do – check it out. It’s super easy.
COUPONS
There is a new coupon for $2 off any Velveeta cheese and two Ro-Tel diced tomato products. Here are some Velveeta and Ro-Tel recipes! Velveeta and Ro-Tel coupons are both rare. The easiest recipe I can recommend it throwing some Velveeta and salsa (or Ro-Tel) into a mini crockpot and serving with chips.

RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
Yesterday I picked up a Costco rotisserie chicken. For $4.99, it puts all the other grocery store’s roasted chickens to shame, even when they are on sale. We combined it with spinach (Costco), feta (Costco – on super sale until 11/14), carrots (Costco), tomatoes (garden) – and we had delicious chicken salads for dinner last night. I love easy dinner nights like that. Kids eat the drumsticks and some diced chicken breast, along with other things.
Then I threw the entire chicken into the slow cooker with onion, carrots, celery, fresh parsley and filled it with water. It’s been simmering all night on medium and it’s going to make some amazing chicken broth! So much cheaper than the store bought variety and it’s a great way to avoid “wasting” what’s left on the chicken. Do you make your own chicken broth? See a recipe I posted earlier this year for making homemade chicken broth on the stove.
Did you see the slow cooker strawberry applesauce yesterday?

We haven’t purchased a vehicle thru Costco, but we have used them when renting cars for trips. They give an additonal savings that you can usually stack with the rental company coupon to get a great deal!!

We have purchased 3 of our last 4 cars through the Costco Program. You get a great price and all the REBATES etc. come off of that. It is a NO HASSLE way to buy. We have asked several car salespeople if it is better to go through Costco or on your own, most say Costco is the way to go.

Thanks for this! Do you follow Melody at the Beautiful Frugal Life? She also does Costco. My favorite items to buy are feta, kirkland greek yogurt, darigold cottage cheese, coffee, Chicken broth concentrate, spices, and the organic tomato paste–it isn’t dirt cheap but the taste is superior.

I can’t remember if it was you or someone else, but last year someone shared about Costco’s toy kitchen food? Do you know if they sell this item every year? I was there last week, but they did not have any. Just wondering if I should wait a month or purchase from somewhere else? Thanks!

I actually don’t have a Costco membership. I’ve actually never been to Costco, can you believe that Heather? haha Oh well, that’s just me.
I MUST say I am enjoying the crafty things you’ve been posting lately. I love it. And I am loving the recipes once again. As for my plans this weekend, I’m finally caught up on coupons, this weekend I am going to be ready for this coming’s inserts. it’s going in my binder, I’m READY!
Another awesome post Heather, thanks!

Neat fact about the costco hotdog/soda special. The $1.50 price is the same price they started with. They have never raised it. Can’t beat the cheap frozen yogurt or smoothie either.
