Good morning! I love Sundays.
If you’re in Washington state – what do you think about this rain? It finally came. I really wanted to put a fire in the fireplace yesterday, but our house was still at 70 degrees, even with the heat off. It’s cooling off at night, but the days seem to stay pretty warm. Have you turned your heat on yet?
You should have three coupon inserts in today’s Sunday paper. I will sheepishly admit that I am WAY behind in clipping my coupons. I need to spend a few hours clipping coupons and watching movies today. We’ll see if that happens. 🙂 I’m always much more excited to go to the store when I have things all in order.
TODAY is the first day of Albertsons doublers. You can get a full round-up of Albertsons DOUBLER deals here. Will you be going?
Sign up for Amazon Local and you can grab a FREE $2 credit to use on Amazon instant video! It’s completely free. See all $2 Amazon Instant Video Movies here.
COUPONS
There is a new coupon for $1 off any All Mighty Pac detergent, making them $3 at Safeway! Or possibly double them at Albertsons, although I’m not the final price there.
What are your favorite coupons in today’s paper? The $1/2 Ore-Ida frozen potato coupon is kind of rare and I’m hoping we find a good sale to match it up with. The $1/1 Campbell’s Skillet coupon makes those only $1.50 at Safeway. The $0.50/1 Philadelphia Cream cheese spread coupon is a rare one, too! I bet we’ll see sales on this in late October, early November.

RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
Did you make your caramel in the slow cooker yet? If not – throw it into the crockpot and head to Fred Meyer where you can buy organic Fuji’s for $0.99/lb this week.
Last night we had Baked Potato slow cooker soup. It was amazing and the recipe should be coming Wednesday. Stay tuned!
Do you freeze cheese? Fred Meyer has Tillamook for $3.99 a loaf this week. It’s limit one, but if you have a fridge full of cheese I still recommend picking it up. The block of cheese should be good for awhile, otherwise I would shred it, then put it in a ziploc bag and freeze. I like to freeze shredded cheese 2 cups at a time in a quart size bag. Pull them out as you need them. This especially works great for the Costco size bags of cheese that seem way to big to get through in time. I usually only freeze shredded cheese, the blocks of cheese tend to get crumbly when frozen and don’t slice very nice.
What’s on your menu plan for this week?

I don’t freeze blocks of cheese, but I buy shredded Mozzerella and Parmesan at Costco and freeze it in quart size bags. We go thru a lot too.

I live with a Polar Bear in Spokane, heat won’t come on until about mid November so the kids and I huddle under blankets in the evenings. And you are not alone in being behind in clipping. I’m several weeks behind myself. 😉

A polar bear! Ha, that is hilarious. Mid-November is crazy! I can’t even imagine, especially in Spokane! 🙂 Stay warm!

About the freezing blocks of cheese… My mom has been doing it for years. She stocks up when it’s on sale too and showed me the secret. The trick is when you take it out of the freezer, put it immediately in the fridge and let it thaw there for a couple days before you use it. It doesn’t get so crumbly. 🙂

Hi Ruth! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Thank you for the tip on freezing cheese. I will try that next time I freeze it.

I was going through the inserts and I noticed the Advil Congestion Rebate. Definitely going to be doing that. The P&G was a nice surprise, was not expecting to get two in one month. What a surprise, I feel like that Gillette Razor coupon is going to be useful sometime soon. haha
I’ve actually never frozen my cheese. O__o” mine always disappears a couple days later because the kids love making grill cheese and other kinds of sandwiches. Cheese does not last long in my house. LOL I have a family full of cheese lovers.
My plans today is like you Heather, try and catch up and try to clip some coupons. I was caught up…and now I’m back to square one. haha Couponing is a 24 hour job!
Thanks again for another great post Heather.
