Good morning! Rise and shine, it’s Saturday!
Let’s keep talking markdowns. I like this topic and because it’s not set in stone or written in an ad, it makes it a little bit more fun to find the deals. This week I stopped into Old Navy and I was chit chatting with an employee straightening a table full of t-shirts and I asked her when they do markdowns. She says every Sunday is markdown for that particular store (might be all Old Navy’s, I’m not sure?).
Did you know that Target has specific markdown schedule? You’d have to verify this schedule at your particular store, but I think it’s fairly national. Target marks down these items on these days of the week:
(Thanks, Thrifty and Thriving)
Monday — electronics, kid’s clothing, books, baby, stationary, accessories
Tuesday — women’s clothes, pets, grocery
Wednesday — men’s clothing, beauty and health, lawn and garden
Thursday — toys, decor and luggage, housewares, sporting goods, shoes
Friday — auto, hardware, jewelry, cosmetics
Do you know the markdown schedules for your favorite stores? Have you ever thought to ask? Fess up in the comments and tell us what you know! 😉
COUPONS
There is a new coupon for $0.50 off any 2 Oscar Mayer Lunch meat 2 oz. This would be a great coupon if your store doubles because these are often $1 a package.
There is also a printable coupon for $0.75 off any one Jimmy Dean Snack Size sandwich, with zip 12345
FAVORITE DEALS
I’ve heard from more than one of you that the slow cooker sale at Fred Meyer has been a success for you! Save 10% off a crock pot with the home coupon in the ad, a $5 rebate prints at checkout, you get FREE chili fixins with in-store coupon and I’ve also heard of people getting an EXTRA $3 catalina.
Family Handyman magazine will be $4.99 a year starting tonight at 9:15 p.m. PST – check back then for a link to that deal. We are getting into the perfect season for ordering magazines for gifts – usually they take about 8 weeks to ship, putting them right around the week of Christmas.
RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
What did you think of that Slow Cooker Sante Fe yesterday? Stock up on cream cheese when you can get if for $0.99 or less and the rest of the ingredients are generally easy to find or have in your stockpile or freezer.
And of course tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. PST I’ll be posting another recipe and it’s also a favorite.

Today, Saturday, October 6th and Sunday October 7th from 10 am to 4 pm, PSE is giving their electric customers up to free 15 light bulbs in their Rock The Bulb exchange bulb event. This is happening at the Lacey Fred Meyer carpark. We went at 10:15 am and the lines were growing but we got through in just over an hour. They are also giving away free shower heads one per household. If you fill out a small form with your PSE account number, name and e-mail address–you can get an additional 2 free bonus light bulbs for a total of 17 (there is a limit of 3 LED light bulbs per customer). They have those forms at the event–or you might have the form from the free light bulb that was in a clear PSE plastic bag left on your door this week.
Go early, if you plan on this for Sunday. There’s still time today. Just bring in your old incandescent light bulbs and exchange for free CFL’s.
