Good morning! On the weekends you’ll get an abbreviated version of Rise and Shine. It’s a good chance for us all to take it easier and recharge before Monday makes an appearance.
Yesterday I took most of the day off from blogging and the kids and I played hooky from both preschool and work. We went to Charlie’s Safari (a local kid’s play facility) where I used an old Amazon Local deal to get two free admissions with lunch! Then we headed next door to see Finding Nemo 3D at the Regal Cinema – I used the current Groupon deal to save 50% off my tickets and my FREE ticket from the yogurt rebate, I used the mobile coupon for $2 off a candy AND I earned a FREE popcorn from the Regal Cinema Crown Club. We save money on drinks by asking for water cups at the concession stand – and just fill them up at the water fountain before you head into the show. We ended up saving nearly 50% off on everything. 🙂 We use Groupon, Living Social, and Sharing Spree for a lot of activities that we do or places we go, everything pops up on these sites eventually.
p.s. I had never been to a 3D movie before, I guess I’m behind the times. It was really cool. My two-year-old was not interested in keeping her glasses on the whole time (I figured as much), but I think the blurry blob that was the movie was strangely soothing for her and put her right to sleep! She ended up taking a nap in my lap for a good portion of the movie, which was a great for me because I rarely get snuggle time with her, she’s too busy running around most of the time. What do you think are 3D movies worth the extra cost?
Want to go do something fun and affordable? TODAY is National Parks FREE admission day. Go play outside. 🙂
COUPONS
There are a TON of new printable coupons that popped up yesterday. Did you get them? There are also only two days left in September, so anything you see available to print, I would print before the end of the month when it either resets or disappears.
When you print your coupons from Coupons.com, use the categories at the top of the page to find them easier. I really don’t like having to scroll and scroll and scroll and click more coupons. It’s a serious pain but worth it for the savings I get to print, I guess. And remember that trick I told you earlier this week – to scroll without the mouse, hit your SPACE BAR – it seems to work faster for folks.
AND – I always try to print my coupons in increments of THREE, since they print three to a page, I save money on paper that way. I also just put them all in one stack and cut multiple pages at once (carefully), which saves me the hassle of cutting out individual coupons.
In case you missed it yesterday afternoon there is a new BOGO Bailey’s coupon
RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
I made strawberry applesauce in the crock pot yesterday. I really struggled finding a decent recipe online. So I made it up. I haven’t really tried it yet – but it looks promising. I packed it up and put it in the fridge last night and we’ll do a taste test later today. If it turns out the recipe will be in my Crock-tober series, but I did give a little sneak peak on the Queen Bee Facebook page!
I’ll post more menu planning ideas tomorrow! Let me know how your turning the deals into meals at your place this week.
