Had a great shopping trip to Safeway today and I thought I’d share. I ended up spending only $11.53, saving $41.25 (78%).

Paid $1.97 for three boxes of Chex Mix
Wheat Thin Crackers – $1.49 (when you buy 5)
Buy 5 of them for $2.49 (they ring up at $2.49) = $12.45 ($5 instant savings comes off) = $7.45
Used five $1/1 Nabisco cracker coupons = $2.45 for five boxes or about 50 cents each!
I will save this receipt for the Jingle in Your Holiday rebate, which is get $10 when you buy 10 items.
I also used some catalina coupons that I had hanging around, I don’t remember when I received them, but I finally ended up using them!
Honey Bunches of Oats – $1.99 – $1.25 catalina = $0.74 cents
3 lb bag of organic apples – $3.99 – $3 catalina = $0.99 cents
I also bought a half-gallon milk, onions, and some Tillamook butter.
For only $11.53, I have a FREE pasta dinner, milk, eggs, butter, cereal and produce!
Although there were lots of things that I would have liked to buy, we really try to stick to what’s on sale and what we have coupons for. By stocking up on things like crackers when they are very inexpensive, I don’t find myself running to the store last minute for them at full-price. Once you have a stock-pile in your pantry, you won’t need a shopping list the length of your arm – you can buy the items that are cheap or FREE and make your weekly menu based on that.
