Inside shark tank tunnel!
A couple weeks ago we took a little road trip down near Newport, Oregon. While in town we went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium – rated one of the top aquariums in the United States! We really enjoyed it and so did our kids.
Cost – We found used this coupon for the Oregon Coast Aquarium valid for one FREE child admission when you buy an adult ticket. This saved us $11.95 (my daughter was FREE being under two)! They also have a AAA discount, but you cannot combine the two.
Adults (18-64) – $18.95
Seniors (65 or larger) – $16.95
Young Adults (ages 13 – 17) – $16.95
Children (ages 3-12) – $11.95
Toddlers/Infants (2 and under) – FREE
The exhibits were so incredible! We had so much fun at this aquarium and I would recommend it with two thumbs up! My kids ran from exhibit to exhibit totally enthralled. I would recommend giving yourself at least a couple hours to go through everything – longer if your kids are old enough to actually stop and study the exhibits.
The first thing you do when you get there is pose for a photo, taken by an aquarium staff member. They give you a scannable card to access the photo at a later time – which you can turn around and buy framed for $20+. We passed because I had taken so many photos with my own camera. Get a schedule of the feedings – we got to see the otters during feeding time and it’s fun to see them swimming around with little fish in their mouths. We also found aquarium personnel at various exhibits during the days giving talks about particular animals.
A very cool hands on tide pool!
My daughter “works” the fish market.
My son made friends with a sea lion. It followed him from window to window.
When my son dropped down, so did the sea lion. When he stood up, the sea lion went above water. 🙂
My son made this face more than once.
A walrus sculpture that my kids love sitting on!
I would definitely recommend you stop by the next time you’re along the Oregon coast. Use the coupon for the Oregon Coast Aquarium to get FREE admission for your kids with adult purchases. Pack snacks so you don’t have to buy food on site.
I’ll share more from our trip down the Oregon coast soon!
Check out a recent post we did on Northwest Staycation ideas.
Have you been to the Oregon Coast Aquarium before? What is your favorite aquarium?

Hi,
The coupon you suggested mentions about winter hours, so I’m not sure if it’s valid in summer as wll or it’s winter only?? Does anyone know? Thanks!

They also give you a military discount. It’s been a few years so I don’t remember the amount. But, we had a ton of fun there too.

Every so often there is a Groupon or Living Social deal for the Oregon Coast Aquarium. I paid $15 for a Groupon for 2 Adult tickets which was perfect for us to go! (this has expired now) I love this aquarium and go every time I am down there. 🙂

I know you said you will post more about your trip, but what other fun things did you do around this area! We will be in Portland in two weeks – and thinking if this is something we should add to our trip!
