For my birthday this year, my sweet husband bought me tickets to see the musical Wicked at the Paramount Theater in Seattle (Save 18% off Wicked tickets from Goldstar). We like experience gifts (versus material gifts) and we love taking time out from our busy schedules for a date night every once in a while. I knew immediately where I wanted to stay – The Roosevelt Hotel. It is only TWO blocks from the Paramount theater and it’s in a prime Seattle location.
The Roosevelt Hotel is located on the corner of 7th and Pine Street and on the same block you’ll find the Cheesecake Factory, a movie theater, Von’s Roasthouse (cheap martinis!), Barnes and Noble, Starbucks (surprise, surprise) and Pacific Place (which has a ton of retailers inside), plus more. 7th and Pine is also where the Macy’s Holiday Parade kicks off every Thanksgiving!
We had a Deluxe King Room and it was super nice and clean. Every time I’ve stayed at the Roosevelt I’ve been happy with the rooms. It’s always spacious and often times has a full-size couch and sitting area (see photo below). The hotel was built in 1929 – so it’s a mixture of historical architecture and accents, with modern day upgrades and technology.
This last time our room was located on the corner of the building, which I loved because I could watch people coming and going in the crosswalks. It is always fun to people watch in big cities. 🙂 They have FREE Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel, which as a blogger, I can completely appreciate (although I left my computer home this time!). And the rooms are soooo quiet, which is hard to find in downtown hotels. And I’ve always been impressed with the customer service and helpfulness of the Roosevelt staff!
As I mentioned earlier – the location can’t be beat. I love Von’s Roasthouse, which is just down on the street level, next door to the Roosevelt. They have every kind of martini you could ever want to order and they spin a big wheel every 30 minutes that gives you a new drink special like $2.50 martinis – they also have a fantastic Happy Hour menu with lots of food 50% off. They also play all the Seattle sports games, which is fun.
It took us only two minutes to walk from the Roosevelt to the Paramount Theater for the show. We’ve also stayed here when we went to Seattle for a Sounders soccer match this summer. We walked the 2 miles to the stadium – it didn’t seem like 2 miles because there is so much to look at downtown.
Another thing I love about the Roosevelt is they are so generous with their promotions and deals. They are on Groupon regularly – in fact they are on Groupon right now, One-Night Stay for Two in a Deluxe King Junior Suite with a $40 Restaurant Credit. Combine Up to Two Nights – starts at $139! This is a STEAL for downtown Seattle and is how we’ve stayed at the Roosevelt in the past. You can also view their Package Promotions on the Roosevelt Website – you can get a downtown shopping package, a Broadway VIP Package, a Gene Juarez Package, and more.
