Rise and Shine is my way of sitting down and having a cup of coffee with you! We talk about the new deals of the day, highlights from yesterday, and anything else that might help us save time, money or energy. I share with you what’s happening with me – and I LOVE to hear about what’s happening with you.
Good morning! How are you doing? We are back from our quick trip to Phoenix, Arizona to visit my grandma. We had a wonderful time and really soaked up the sun. I’m going to be doing a series of posts next week to share about how we saved money on our trip and plus some tips for traveling with small kids.
Yesterday we spent most of the morning walking around Usery Mountain Regional Park (Have you been before?). A pass for the entire day is just $6 (includes parking and educational programs) and we saw more lizards than we could count, blooming cacti, birds, and all sorts of beautiful scenery. Plus they had covered playgrounds! It was perfect for our last day in town and I would totally recommend it if you’re going to be in the Mesa area with kids.
Later today I will share an update on our baby chickens! I took photos of them last week (at four weeks old) and they are getting sort of awkward with their feathers coming in – but they are still so cute!

RECIPES & MEAL PLANNING
Today is $5 Friday at Safeway! This is the current Grocery Outlet ad. It includes $4 in printable coupons. This week we also shared new WinCo deals, along with Albertsons and QFC . Here are the current deals for Fred Meyer.
My fridge is completely empty besides some eggs, cheese and some random root vegetables. I think I’ll be swinging by Grocery Outlet today and then possibly Costco. Have you seen any good deals at Costco lately?
What’s on your menu plan for this week? Check out our recipes by ingredients here – it helps when you see something on sale in the ad and need some inspiration.

Has anyone been to Target lately to check out the Easter Clearance? I would like to go today if there is anything left.

Rachel Atwood says
Stop by the Grocery Outlet in Maple Valley. It has TONS of crazy good deals right now. They put out a red sign when things have been lowered to dirt cheap prices. Cereal for .98, granola bars for .48, Keebler cookies for .68, Fruitabu fruit leather for .98, Ritz Crackerfuls for .98, Spiderman graham crackers .68?, lots of stock up deals. I spent $59 and my cart was overflowing!! There was so much and I only listed maybe 10% of what I found.
Heather says
Oooh – thanks for the heads up Rachel! Sounds like a fantastic trip to Grocery Outlet. I’m definitely going to have to swing in there today. 🙂
