My daughter and I stopped by Goodwill today to scout for deals. She’s only three, but she’s figured out how the tag colors work, so she’ll look through the racks and yell, “I found a pink tag!” or whatever color is on sale. I love it. She loves it. I’m raising up a little thrift store pro and I think it’s adorable.
The Land’s End button-up shirt pictured above had a pink tag – so that means 50% off, making it only $1.99. Perfect for the handsome husband this summer.
We found this Gymboree floral dress for $2.99, size 7 – which will fit my daughter perfectly. She’s a very BIG three-year-old. š
This Gymboree top was $1.99. Size 6. Perfect for this summer!
This Gymboree t-shirt was $1.99. Size 10. So it will go in the box for next year. Ā I don’t think it’s ever been worn or washed!
The Gymboree items were not sale items, but based on the condition and the items, I decided they were still a strong enough discount for me to pick up. I adore the Gymboree brand because it washes and keeps so well. Plus the resale value at consignment sales will likely cover the price I paid, plus some! I did see some Gymboree shorts that looked brand new (and even from last year’s collection?) – but they were $5.99 and more than I was willing to pay. So it’s just hit-or-miss and you have to decide for yourself what you consider a bargain.
And for $0.99 cents I picked up two drawing books for my six-year-old son. He’ll love them. He’s been totally into drawing lately, especially superheroes and cartoon characters. Ā I also found Princess Yahtzee for $1.49 and Pokemon Yahtzee for $0.99 – perfect for family game night.
What deals have you been finding at Goodwill or your favorite thrift shops lately? I’d love to hear!

I buy tons of kids’ books there. So many good finds in that area. I also found an Anthropologie shirt in new condition for $12. It may not seem like a huge bargain, but it is a really cute shirt. š The woman ahead of me in line found a wooden Guidecraft play stove for $5.99. Are you kidding?! They’re $90 new, and I thought I scored when I got ours on Craigslist for $25. Sometimes things are priced too high, but sometimes they also underprice things not knowing what they have.

Over the weekend I scored a MammaRo coffee mug. The company is in Italy and the mug if it had the saucer sells for $86 at Sonoma. YES!

My biggest GW scores of the weekend were a Nordstroms olive green silk top with the tags still on ($68) for $12.99 and an unopened bottle of California Baby shampoo ($9 or so at Target) for $3.99!!

Love the $1.29 sale day: All types of name brand clothing, including quality winter jackets and fancy dresses that are normally priced $10 and up at Goodwill. Just look for the color of tag indicated in the sale and choose your style, Love It!
Heather Clarke says
Yes, agree Tanya. I try to make it on $1.29 day, but missed it this week. Maybe next!

Went good will shopping yesterday. I got a great two peice Mickey mouse on set that my son loved! $2. Got a great 4 ppiece wine glass set for four dollars. I also picked up a Sun dress that was five dollars. A pair of really nice swim trunks from old navey for my little guy and a shirt for the smallest man in my family. I left spending $12
Heather Clarke says
YAY! Love it when you walk out of the store with a full bag for a fraction of the price.

I’m always going to Goodwill! My last shopping trip I came home with 4 large canning jars that look like old milk bottles and 10 mini ones, .29 cents each and perfect for storing beans, rice, spices….. I also scored a brand new Our Generation Doll House that retails in store for $100 and rarely does this brand go on sale for really good deals. My daughter has wanted this house so badly. I saw this one at Goodwill for weeks and it had a pink tag, which down here pink tags NEVER go on the 1/2 price color. But I found if you ask sometimes they will lower the price if it has been there awhile. So I asked and scored it for $50, and nothing is wrong with it!
Heather Clarke says
Jenny – WONDERFUL! I love hearing about other deals people are finding secondhand. The Our Generation Doll House sounds like a heck of a bargain – and good for you to ask. It never hurts to ask. š Keep on thrifting!!
