I woke up extra early this morning and checked my Safeway app for new e-coupons. I had an e-coupon for $5 off any online order and combined with store e-coupons, sale prices and manager markdowns I got everything pictured for $34.90!
I have FreshPass – which is a membership that gets you extra coupons and promotions. I paid $49 for the first year and I feel like it’s quickly paying for itself with it’s additional perks:
- Unlimited free delivery on orders over $30
- $5 monthly credit for annual subscribers
- 2X points on certain brands
- 5% off O Organics and Open Nature
- 5% off Signature Pet Care
- Monthly Starbucks perks
I placed the online order and my total was $30.74. Then I went into the store and found chicken drumsticks on manager markdown and BOGO – so I paid only $4.16 for two packages of chicken drumsticks!
Here’s what I bought:
Pepsi, 2-liters – $0.76 cents each, limit 10
The e-coupon is for $0.97 but then I also got Rewards/cash off and Fresh Pass Savings that dropped it to $0.76 cents each. I very rarely buy soda, but for this price – and with two teenagers, I figured why not! They will certainly be happy.
Arugula – $4.43
Always a staple on my list, I buy it regardless of price or promotions usually
Strawberries, 1 lb – $1.37 each, limit 3
The e-coupon is for $1.77, but FreshPass and rewards/cash off
Broccoli, 2.6 lbs – $2.96
I had an e-coupon for $1.49/lb plus extra savings
Safeway Select baby carrots, 1 lb bags – $0.53 cents each
The e-coupon is for $0.69 cents each (great price!) but then there are the FreshPass and extra rewards/cash off savings.
Boneless chicken breast, 3.5 lbs – $8.84, comes out to $2.53/lb
I had a just for u coupon for $3.29/lb and then FreshPass and extra rewards came off.
So that was my online order that came to $30.74!
I then decided to go into the store and look for manager markdowns. I found packages of chicken legs 50% off. . .and I picked up two packages. At checkout, one was FREE! These are included in the buy one, get one free meat promotion. I was so excited to get two packages for $4.14!
What are your favorite ways to make chicken drumsticks?! I need a good recipe for roasting in the oven (I don’t currently have a grill).
And I picked up a large bag of coffee grounds from Starbucks for FREE. . . to add to my compost/garden.
That brought my total to $34.90 for everything pictured above. You can see more details below. . .
Let me know if you find similar deals at your local Safeway!
If you were able to get the 2 liters I think you got lucky because in my ad it is the 1.25 liters. Still a deal, but wanted to let others know.
Hmmm, different regions might have different pricing. My ad definitely lists 2-liters at the 97 cent price. I’m in Western Washington, in Olympia.
