Costco Wine Advent Calendar
Last year I nonchalantly mentioned on the Queen Bee Facebook page about a Costco Wine Advent Calendar. . .and y’all freaked out over it. I thought it was a fun concept but didn’t pick one up initially. . .a couple weeks later I went back and they were completely sold out! So yesterday, when I spotted the Wine Advent Calendar at Costco – it went right in my cart. LOL. If there ever was a year to splurge on a Wine Advent Calendar I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s 2020.
The Costco Wine Advent Calendar has 24 half bottles. . .the equivalent of 12 regular wine bottles. So although I admit there is a bit of sticker shock for a $99 advent calendar it comes out to 12 bottles of wine for $99 or $8.25 each. . .not too shabby. The wine advent calendar boasts wines from “coast to mountain and every corner in between . . .” and I suppose since we won’t be doing a lot of traveling or eating out this holiday season, it might be a worthwhile treat if you enjoy wine.
The other reason I picked it up is, I’m so NOT a wine expert. The wine aisle is overwhelming for me – I don’t understand all the varieties and if I pick up a bottle of wine, it’s usually 14 Hands red blend for $6.89 at Costco. The idea of buying wine blindly sort of terrifies me. . . so I think it’s a fun idea to have a sample of a variety of wines – already selected for you! You might just find a new favorite or two.
I spotted the Costco Wine Advent Calendar at the Tumwater, Washington Costco store yesterday (September 24, 2020) but the Flying Blue Imports (the makers behind the wine advent calendar) report on their website to expect the calendars at most Costco warehouses the first week of October.
If you’re curious about what types of wine you’ll find in the Costco Wine Advent Calendar, I was super impressed at the Flying Blue Imports website. Click on the particular day and it has a whole page dedicated to that specific wine!
For example, on Day 1 you’ll get to try Vieux Ciseaux – and it tells you all about that wine. . . including the region it was made, the flavor profile, even a video about that particular wine! So I think that’s a fun way to go through the advent – learning each day about that wine variety!
So there you have it. . . the Costco Wine Calendar has been spotted. . .and it will likely sell out quickly. So if you’re looking for it this holiday season – shop early for it!
Let me know if you decide to pick up the Costco wine advent calendar – I’d love to know what you think about it! What are your favorite types of advent calendars?

Hi Laura – these are on sale at Costco. You’d have to check there, though we did hear that most stores should have them in October. Hope that helps!
