As we head into September here are some guidelines for the kinds of deals we are likely to see!
- September is a great month for clearance! It’s the month that stores start making room for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We should find clearance deals on camping, barbecues, fans, swimsuits, sandals and all things related to summer. Toward the end of September we should see leftover school and office supplies on clearance.
- Watch for great Labor Day sales on clothing and watch for an increase in retail coupons as stores start the winter push for sales.
- Drugstore deals really ramp up in September and run through November. Watch the drugstore ads for cold medicines, vitamins, thermometers and related healthcare products. You can often get these items for free when combining coupons from your newspaper AND the drugstore rebates and promotions.
- Savory foods make a comeback in the store ads. We should start seeing more sales on things like pastas, tortillas, spaghetti sauces, Campbell’s products and Kellogg’s products. Coupons for these type of products will also increase.
What can you expect from ME this fall?
The summer is a slow time on the blog – people are outside in the sunshine and not behind a computer screen – so I tend to follow suit and take it easy. But as soon as September rolls around it’s a mad sprint through the holidays. After Labor Day the sales start coming at us faster than we can catch them. So this fall, here are some things you can expect from me:
- Updating earlier. Just this week I started waking up before 5 a.m. again so I can get the big daily deals up before my kids wake. This summer I slacked a bit and slept in with the kids. So if you’re an early riser – log on to Queen Bee earlier and we’ll get the day off to an early start (yay for my East Coast readers!). The early bird catches the worm. . .
- Grocery deals seem to pick up. Be ready for some amazing stock up prices at the grocery store this fall (I’m really hoping!). I’m still committed to price checking items in the store, posting the grocery ads on Tuesdays (sometimes as late as Wednesday morning) and being your go-to-gal for saving on groceries. We can do this and I want to help you!
- Meal planning returns! I admit, I’ve slacked this summer on offering you meal planning suggestions. I know that meal planning is a big part of saving big, so we’ll work on meal planning together this fall.
- Recipes return. I didn’t do much cooking this summer, so things slowed down, but I’ll start sharing more recipes this fall and winter, my favorite time to be in the kitchen.
- More tutorials. This is an area I’d really like to spend some time this fall. I’m considering online classes or videos – what do you think will work best for you? What areas could you use help with? Please share your ideas and suggestions!
- Sweepstakes continue. I know many of you are winning the sweepstakes, so we’ll keep posting sweepstakes here.
- More giveaways! Did you like all the groovy giveaways this summer? I’m hoping to have a bunch more this winter. . .
- More online sales! This is a BIG one. Between now and Christmas the online sales really pick up! We will be able to see some MAJOR savings by shopping online, often with FREE shipping and promo codes. I always price compare online and usually always have purchased from the site before (so I know it’s legit). Amazon seriously ramps up the sales and I usually try to post deals that will save you at least 40% – although often as much as 70%. So be ready!
- High-quality posts. This is a year-round commitment, this never changes. I’m not going to post a deal for things I think are useless, cheap and ridiculous – no matter how much money you’ll save. I post only things that I would feel comfortable recommending to my friends and family. I won’t jeopardize your trust, or my reputation for a quick “deal” or spammy offer.
And finally THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! August was a record month for page views here on Queen Bee and I’m so humbled by that! Thank you for making my site a daily stop, thank you emailing me the deals you find, commenting on posts, sharing on Facebook, sharing Queen Bee with your friends and family, and just making this a great community. I’m truly grateful for your support and I will work hard to return the favor by making sure Queen Bee is a resource for you to save and bee more, while spending less!
What would you like to see this fall? I’d love to hear suggestions for features I can add to the blog and areas I can help you save more money.
Like something? Don’t like something? Please share!

You make me feel better knowing you slacked this summer by sleeping in and not cooking. I don’t feel bad now, thanks!

Thank you for all your hardwork.

Thanks for all you do, QB! You make your readers’ lives easier in so many ways.
One thing I struggle with as we head into the winter months is finding free or inexpensive weekend family activities. The new Children’s Museum in Olympia will be open, but I’d appreciate other ideas, too.

That’s a great tip! I’ll try and incorporate those kinds of things into the blog. If you ever find a great activity let me know!

I agree. I loved your lengthy post on fun (and often FREE) summer activities that you posted at the beginning of the summer. It was on our fridge all summer, and we did lots of different activities that we hadn’t tried before. Thanks for all of the great info. you provide. I’m in UP so it’s nice to have a local couponing resource so readily available in your site. Thank you!
