Saving on Food with Amazon’s Subscribe & Save {Feeding My Family}

Saving on Food with Amazon’s Subscribe & Save {Feeding My Family}

One of the ways we save on food (and toiletry/household) items is through Amazon’s Subscribe and Save program. On most perishable or consumable goods –  like food, paper products, household cleaners, etc, Amazon has the option to “subscribe and save.” When you opt for subscribe and save you save an additional 5-15% off – and you are basically set up on auto delivery. You pick how often something is delivered (monthly, every few months, etc) and you can CANCEL at anytime.

Setting up an item on Subscribe and Save

  • To order an item via subscribe and save, you’ll select that option instead of “add to cart”
  • Right under “Subscribe & Save:” you’ll see a little grey/orange image – when you have 5+ orders it will show the 15% off  as orange
  • All your Subscribe and Save items are delivered on the same day. You can change this delivery time in your account – mine is delivered on/around the 12th of each month (I received my September delivery today!)
  • You can pick your quantity
  • And select how often you want it delivered – monthly or every couple months and as much as every 6 months.

Subscribe and Save EXTRA DISCOUNT details

  • If you have ONE to FOUR items on subscribe and save you get an extra 5% off your order.
  • If you have FIVE or more items on your monthly subscribe and save order, you get as much as 15% off. Once you reach five items, Amazon automatically adjusts all your orders to this new higher discount amount.
  • You are charged for subscribe and save items WHEN THEY SHIP.

Subscribe and Save COUPONS

  • Amazon offers some high-value coupons for subscribe and save orders. These discounts are IN ADDITION to your 5-15% off.
  • The coupon generally applies to your FIRST delivery only and to the only ONE quantity

Subscribe and Save PRICING

  • When you place your first subscribe and save order you are GUARANTEED that price on the first delivery.
  • If you have the item delivered in a following month, you pay the price it is when it ships.

Subscribe and Save MANAGEMENT

  • About a week before your subscribe and save order ships, you will get an email that says “Review your upcoming delivery”
  • This is a great time to click through and review what you have on your delivery.
  • You can cancel or skip anything depending on price or need.
  • I usually cancel on subsequent orders because the price may change and/or the coupons are no longer available. There is no penalty to canceling.
  • If you need to, put a reminder on your calendar to manage your subscribe and save items before they ship – this way you don’t end up with too much of something or paying more than you’d like.

I post subscribe and save deals all the time. . . I think they can be an amazing way to save on toilet paper, paper towels, tissues – yes, even beating Costco prices if you can get a price drop and a coupon!

Here’s what I bought this month on subscribe and save. My total was $49.31

Pop-Tarts Toaster Pastries, Breakfast Foods, Kids Snacks, Variety Pack (5 Boxes, 60 Pop-Tarts)  – $7.78
It was priced at $11.98 – $1.80 S&S discount – $2.40 coupon savings = $7.78
This comes out to $1.55/box for the large 12 count

Annie’s Real Aged Cheddar Microwave Mac & Cheese with Organic Pasta, 8 Ct, 2.01 OZ Cups – $5.28
It was priced at $7.49 – $0.75 S&S discount – $1.50 coupon = $5.24
This comes out to $0.65 each

Amazon Brand – Happy Belly Mini Twist Pretzels, 2.5 Pound (Pack of 1) – $4.23
It was priced at $4.98 – $0.75 S&S discount = $4.23

RITZ Original Crackers, Family Size, 3 Boxes – $9.26
It was priced at $16.85 – $2.53 S&S discount – $5.06 coupon = $9.26
This is 61.44 ounces of crackers – about 4.5 regular size boxes, so a great price.
It’s a great time to be slowly buying things like this if you use them for holiday dips – better to buy on sale, when it’s available than be forced to pay full price the week of your party or the day you make the dip!
CURRENTLY ON SALE FOR $9.55!

What they’re saying

Queen Bee has been my go to for many years. Not only how to save on the family grocery budget. But, how to shop. From grocerys to clothes to household. She has saved us hundreds, if not thousands of dollars cumulatively over the years. Thank You! Debby F.

Queen Bee has been one of my favorite pages to follow! A friend kept sharing her deals so I had to start following and I’m so glad I did. I have been able to purchase so many items at great prices because of her posts. She is great about commenting back to questions or even just saying thanks to people who let her know they picked up an item she posted! Christine R.

Queen Bee is an amazing site with great deals no doubt, but my favorite parts are the snippets of silliness, morning coffee, amazing second hand finds. Queen Bee has saved me lots of money, but it's also brightened many a days! Tilla H.

Queen bee has helped me to make Christmas awesome for my kids every year. We follow the blog and are able to stay in budget and get twice as many items for the family. They are the best!! Jessica T.

Can always count on QueenBee for great deals from many different stores ! She's always keeping us well informed, saved a lot throughout the years, been following for a good 7 years ! Cathy L.
