Yesterday I spotted a handful of toys on sale 75% off at the Factoria Target store. We stopped by on our way back from a trip north to the Bellevue Lego store for my son’s birthday. π I found mostly Iron Man stuff on clearance. I asked the sales representative when they would be marking down the aisles and aisles of other toys that are only 30-50% off, but they didn’t know. I also heard there were some toys on clearance at the Lakewood Towne Center Target.
I’m guessing we will start seeing 75% off this week! Don’t quote me on that, but I’m guessing.Β The stores generally find out early in the morning and they start marking down the prices in the morning.
Here are some tips in case you find the mother-load:
- Let me know! Ha, I have to at least put it out there. π
- Think about birthdays and holidays that you need to buy for over the next year. Try to gauge what your kids will be into at the time when you plan to give the gift. For example, at this same sale last year I bought toys for my daughter’s first birthday, toys appropriate for a 12-month old, even though she was a brand new baby at the time of the sale!
- Think giving trees. The need for giving is so great, especially near the holidays. If you start picking up items you can donate now, it won’t be so much out of one month’s budget.
- Don’t lose sight of needs vs. wants. I’ll try not to get too preachy here, but all of us bargain bloggers have been hyping this sale up for weeks. It’s an awesome sale and you can get INCREDIBLE deals. BUT, it’s easy to get caught up in the “moment” and the “high” of the good deal and you can easily overbuy. 75% off is an amazing deal, but if you don’t need it? It’s not a deal at all.
