As a family we are taking the last 100 days of 2020 and doing our best to fill it with joy and good. – by doing at least 100 intentional acts of kindness before the year is up. We are four weeks in and here’s what we’ve done as a family. . .
- Baked a batch of rolls for my neighbor
- Mailed a set of books to my nephew in Alaska
- Sent an encouraging card to a friend who is battling cancer
- Sent $50 restaurant gift card to a friend on the anniversary of losing a child
- Sent an encouraging card to my sister
- Sent a birthday card to a friend
- Sent a package of costume/dress-up jewelry for my niece in Alaska
- Sent an encouragement card and a Starbucks gift card to a friend going through a divorce
- Wrote a thank you letter to my daughter’s teacher with a Starbucks gift card
- Gifted a collection of baking supplies via a Buy Nothing Group to three different people
- Left a 50% tip on a food takeout order
- Purchased tuna at grocery store to drop off at Food Bank
- Sent flowers to a friend who lost her husband
- Gave cookies to the UPS delivery person
- Dropped a bouquet of flowers off on a neighbor’s porch
- Donated blood
- Left a 50% tip on a food takeout order
- Made a blanket for great grandma who just moved to a new place
- Called a family friend I haven’t talked to in awhile.
- Made a batch of my grandma’s rolls for my aunt and cousin
- Sent thank you card to my mom for coming to visit
- Sent a “congrats!” card to a friend who got engaged
- Sent a “house warming” package to a family member who just moved into a new house
- Sent a small gift to a family member we haven’t seen in awhile.
- Kids made a picture and wrote a letter to great grandma who they haven’t seen in awhile
- Sent a note with a $5 Starbucks card and small gift to an old dear friend who lives cross country
- Sent a book to the son of a family friend we haven’t seen in awhile
- Went over to our elderly neighbors house to visit (wore masks and social distanced)
- Visited great grandma who just moved into a new place
- Sent a thank you card to Grandma for treats she gave us
- Sent a birthday card and small gift to a friend for her birthday
- Sent a birthday card to a friend
- Gifted an item to a customer that I know she’s been wanting for awhile
We are 28 days into our goal and I’m happy that we at 33 intentional acts of kindness. Many of our acts of intentional kindness cost just $1.05 – just a card from the Dollar Tree ($0.50) and a Forever stamp ($0.55). And some are just a commitment of time or energy – like donating blood or picking up garbage on the road. Birthdays are an EASY WAY to brighten someone’s day – and if you happen to be on Facebook you can see many of your friends birthday’s ahead of time!
