Here are our very random grocery shopping trips from this week. We spent $60.04, which brings our July grocery total to $190.32 out of a budget of $300 for our family of four. My favorite purchase by far would be the HUGE flat of fresh raspberries from Spooner Berry Farm here in Olympia – worth. every. penny.
From Safeway, I picked up a case of Refreshe soda and two packages of cookies for only $3.74. The soda isn’t in the picture because it had already been put away in the fridge and the box recycled by the time I got around to taking a photo.
From Safeway, I picked up some spinach (for salads) and bananas because they were only $0.39/lb with Just for U pricing!
The biggest cost this week were three big boxes of “snacks” from when my husband went to return something to Costco with the kids in tow. You can never walk out of there empty handed! But we’ve been trying to drop some weight this summer, so the overpriced, low calorie foods have come in handy this week – along with lots of produce.
Plus this week I bartered with my neighbor and friend to get a bunch of heirloom carrots and strawberries! I imagine we will have one more big stock up trip before the end of the month.
Spent so far in JULY – $190.32 (monthly budget $300 – it used to be $250, but as we started to eat less processed foods we moved to it to $300)
- These shopping trips – $60.04
- Stock-up trip to Winco – $88.16
- Albertsons, spent $7.29, saved $45 – $7.29
- Grocery Outlet, spent $13.91 – $13.29
- Produce stand – $21.54

I’m currently drooling over those raspberries. I tore my achilles 3 1/2 weeks so my couponing hasn’t been that great the past few weeks and I currently have the past 3 weeks of Sunday’s newspapers in my garage. Once I’m all healed I’m hoping to be back full force reducing our grocery budget.

That’s great, Heather! You really are an inspiration to me as I try to cut our budget (yet again). It can be so frustrating! Thank you for all the work you do!

For those in the vancouver wa area, flats of raspberries are $15.95 at Bi-Zi farms on 119th. Got 2 yesterday that yeilded 3 batches of canned jam (16 pints) and 7 1/2 pints of raspberry lemonade concentrate canned.
